side of the menu are four choices that will be available every day:
Cheese sandwich, yogurt, bagel and cream cheese, and garden salad. In

Second Step
Program -
Sun Chronicle Article
The
award-winning Second Step program integrates academics with social and
emotional learning. The students learn and practice vital social skills
such as empathy, emotional management, problem-solving and cooperation.
These essential life skills help students in the classroom, on the
playground, and at home. Our ‘buzzwords’ at Hyman Fine are RESPECT,
RESPONSIBILITY, and HONESTY. Our mascot is the Golden Goose who reminds us
to “live by the Golden Rule.” To help facilitate this program, a committee
has been formed that will host weekly assemblies with the students.
Paper Retriever Information
Hyman
Fine Recycles…
And
raises money for the school!!
We are extremely
excited about our new arrival…a PaperRetriever recycling bin from Abititi
Bowater, world’s largest manufacturer of recycled content newsprint for use
in making newspapers. The paper you recycle today may be the newspaper you
read in just a few weeks….and again in two months...and again. That process
is called full-circle recycling.
What is the Paper
Retriever Program?
The program is a
simple and free service for communities to use for paper recycling. The
community is encouraged to bring their paper and put it into the bin. The
school is not charged for the bins or the pick-up of paper. We will be paid
for the paper collected in each bin.
What can be put
in the bin?
The company
accepts catalogs, magazines, newspapers, junk mail, office paper, fax paper,
school paper, envelopes, notebooks, and folders. It does NOT accept phone
books, cardboard, plastic, glass, metals or trash.
How much money
should we expect to raise?
The more we recycle, the more we
raise! Please spread the word to your family, friends, and neighbors. The
green and yellow bin is located near the gym door on the left side of the
school. Paper can be sent in with your child or you may drop it directly
into the bin.
Parents are
encouraged to have a designated spot to save papers for recycling at home.
The Paper Retriever program is an easy, rewarding way
to make a positive impact on our school and the community that surrounds
it. Funds may be utilized for playground refurbishing, library
enhancements, field trips, and many other worthwhile projects. Currently,
the Paper Retriever program is in place at over 15,000 organizations through
22 metropolitan areas in 14 states. Last year these organizations earned
$4.5 million dollars. By participating in this program, we can help reduce
landfill use, save water, energy and jobs - leaving the world a better place
for our children.
Start sending in paper as soon as you can!
